Loch Tummel Fishing - Permits are issued on behalf of the Loch Tummel Riparian Association

Loch Tummel is located west of Pitlochry and provides spectacular surroundings and outstanding fishing potential for brown trout, perch and pike. The most accessible fishing sites are located on the south shore of the loch which can be reached from the A9 by taking the unclassified road sign posted to Foss . This exit is located between the two Pitlochry exits from the A9. The B8019 north shore road climbs high above the loch and provides scenic views including the famous Queens View but gives little access to the shore.

The Loch Tummel Riparian Association (LTRA) was formed in 1978 to protect and oversee the fishing on Loch Tummel. Fishing permits can be purchased via this website or in person from the Pitlochry Visit Scotland Information Centre (22 Atholl Road, Pitlochry, Perthshire, PH16 5BX). Contact LTRA

The loch is regularly stocked with mature brown trout to improve the fishing and breeding population.

Regulations:

• It is a statutory offence to fish without a properly authorised permit.
• Purchasing a fishing permit for LOCH TUMMEL gives permission to fish for trout, perch and pike only.
• Each permit is valid only for the person in whose name it is issued for the period stated and is for ONE ROD only.
• Fishing is permitted from the bank only – NO WADING.
• The trout season is from 15th March to 6th October inclusive.
• Trout which are less than nine inches in length must be returned to the water unharmed.
• Use of live fish as bait is strictly forbidden.
• The Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries (Protection) (Scotland) Act 1951 prohibits fishing for or taking freshwater fish except by single rod and line.
• The Scottish Outdoor Access Code should be observed at all times. Please leave no litter, close all gates and take care not to disturb cattle, crops or fences.
• Safety: please be aware that loch and river water levels can change rapidly especially at the western end and the shore drops away steeply in places around the loch.
• The issuer will not be liable for any loss, damage or injury arising through the exercise of the entitlement conferred by this permit.
• Permit holders will be bound by the Regulations. Warden(s) patrol the loch and you may be required to show your permit.
